Monotonix did not set anything on fire tonight.

I was going to write about some other bands, but then I went to the Monotonix show. I was having a hard time deciding if I'd stay at the Marquee for The Inbreds or head up to Gus' and hope they weren't at capacity, but I feel fairly confident that while The Inbreds were on stage, they spent the whole time on stage. Not so much with Monotonix.

You think that sending the drum kit crowd-surfing is pretty good, then they send the drummer with it. You think it's funny when Myles Deck lands on top of your feet, then a mass exodus out the door begins. The band's kicking out the masses, instead of the bar? It's not even last call. You think, fine, I guess being a rock star is all about the bad attitude. Then you realize they've taken the show to the street, up the telephone poles on Agricola, and on top of parked cars. It must have taken a good ten minutes for the cops to show up, and even then they only herded everyone back inside.

"Now we are going to show police what it means to be ROCK STAR!" Monotonix' frontman shouts, mooning the audience and diving into it. I have no idea what their music sounded like. I was busy trying to fend off short people pushing me around, attempting to take photos, and fearing for my life. Isn't the music besides the point?

So I was going to write about some other bands too, but that's going to wait until tomorrow. In short, that was ridiculous.
