Sweet success for Sweet Jane's

The candy shop is moving to a new location that's 50 percent bigger

After 12 years of tempting tastebuds and blowing bubbles from its current location at 5431 Doyle Street, Sweet Jane’s is moving.

“We've always been here, this is the first big move for us,” says Alyssa Buchanan. “It’s definitely something we're going into very exuberantly.” The shop will move its shop of confections, retro toys, unique gifts and other treats to 1300 Queen Street (on the corner of Morris, which was recently home to Hummingbird Medispa and before that If Only), a space 50 percent larger than its current one...meaning more of the good stuff.

“It means more parking, more visibility and it’s about the same distance from Spring Garden Road,” says Buchanan. “There are no disadvantages, only advantages.” Sweet Jane’s will close its current home at the end of July, making the move over the long weekend and re-opening for August 1—the new location is currently under renovation. Buchanan also dropped some hints about a “new element” of the store that’ll debut with the new location. Along with expanding on the usual delights you can find in store they’ll be “branching out and trying something new and fun and different,” she says. How very mysterious. We like surprises though, especially if they’re chocolate-dipped or coated in sprinkles. Any guesses on what’s to come?
