The pending construction of the better, faster, stronger Roy Building has pushed Newcombe’s Ink (5187 Sackville Street) to move out of its downtown location sooner than expected, but tattoo artist Helena Darling says it’s not a bad thing.

“It’s really exciting, it’s fully renovated,” the longtime employee says of new spot. “Being in an over 100-year-old building is really beautiful, but it has its problems.”

The new Newcombe’s will open Monday, January 27 at 6191 Young Street (next to Bikes By Dave) with the exact same team, but unlike its current home it’ll be wheelchair accessible, and have space for parking. Until then it’ll be business as usual at the Sackville Street location.

“It’s not downtown, but it feels like it’s just as accessible,” says Darling. “Our lives are going to open up to help our clients so much more than we were already were.”
