Turnstile Pottery Co-op's Spring Show & Sale

Annual event is perfect for wedding and Father's Day gifts.

“Come look at the work and soak up some food for your soul,” says director Bethany Butterworth of Turnstile Pottery Co-op (2733 Agricola Street, 431-2529). She’s talking about their Annual Spring Show & Sale, next weekend, June 9t and 10, 11am to 5pm both days. Butterwworth and the other seven artists of the co-op will put their works on display and for sale. There are fanciful, experimental sculptural works as well as functional pottery such as vases, mugs, teapots and bowls. Most of the works are unique, but there are a few that have more than one in production.

“They’re really popular for wedding gifts,” says Butterworth, reminding us that you don’t need to go fancy or brand name for a colourful and elaborate wedding present. She also recommends the “man-sized” mugs, which are bigger and hold more liquid, for a Father’s Day gift.

At $15-$100, there’s something here for everyone, even if you’re just looking to treat yourself. Or if you just like looking at artwork, come visit the co-op anyway; there’ll be plenty of decor to feast your eyes upon.
