The wheels in Lisa Drader-Murphy’s head are always turning, that’s why her label Turbine (1475 Lower Water Street) has produced over 75,000 pieces over the last 16 years, and why she’s decided to let her creativity bubble over into a second shop.

“I wanted a challenge,” says Drader-Murphy of her next move. “I think I can relate to my friend Stephanie Bertossi [of the unstoppable Bertossi Group] who gets one thing going and then sees another creative vision through.”

Scheduled to open November 1 in the former Mahone Bay Trading Co. at Historic Properties (1869 Upper Water Street), Lisa Drader-Murphy—which will offer limited edition styles, and signature clothing and accessories—has been in the works for nearly a year, and will bring a clean, white aesthetic to the already bright space.

“I really wanted something that would allow me to focus on the creative energy I had when I first started Turbine,” she says of the designer line. “It'll be a different collection from the Turbine store, but you'll see a common thread,” she laughs. “No pun intended.”

Watch out for an announcement of the store’s grand opening celebrations, as well as Drader-Murphy’s annual showcase...both will take place in early November.
