To whom it may concern,
I was leafing through the coast article on the north end pub fire and noticed that the loss of ALL the equipment/cds/merh etc by Terrortomb was a footnote, a by the way sort of thing. Are you insane. I have been criticle of the coast in the past for a lack of coverage on some of the local bands but that is a sign of disrespect to me and to them. They truly lost everything and there is so little mention of it that it almost seems as though you don't care to help the ones who lost more than their job in that fire. Is this a bias? Is it that they don't identify with your demographic? Or is this a misunderstanding? Don't get me wrong I am not trying to be a DICK even though that is my name, I just thought there would be some mention of it in the last issue and there was not. It is really nice of you guys to say there are benifit shows going on in the "what's happening" section but that doesn't help them and it certainly doesn't mean people will help support a staple on the halifax music scene when they have no idea why there is a benift show in the first place. As a former media/journalism student I that a GOOD news story needs to have a "Human Face" put on it to make the audience care about it. How much more human do you need than a group of people have lost not only their home but also everything they have worked so hard to create, everything they've put their heart and soul into, in the blink of an eye. Maybe it's a lack of ability to reach them or it is an oversight, but if either scenario is the case then it is something that, now that it has been pointed out, can be rectified. If you would like I can have an article written and submitted by the next deadline, if need be, or someone on staff can do it. Not matter how it is told, it is still a story that should be told in it's entirety, not in a paragraph. They don't necsesarily need the help, the overwhelming support they have recieved to date should show there is an interest and perhaps a glimmer hope for good people who have lost so much. Now that's a good story!!!
