Louise Renault and Portia Clark’s alarm clocks go off just one minute apart. Renault’s at 3:55am and Clark’s at 3:56am. Fast forward a couple of hours and their voices are doing the waking, bringing Haligonians the news of the day via CBC Radio One’s Information Morning. “We’re the first voices that people are hearing,” says Clark, “We’re greeting the day with them, and getting them ready for whatever the day is going to be.” The show is an intentional balance of lighter stories woven in amid heavier stories, that Renault says people tell her makes them feel like the pair are sitting right there at the breakfast table with them.
