When hitting the road for a cross-country tour, PEI's Paper Lions felt a little bad they didn't have a new record to bring with them. So, they thought, what better to fill that void than a cooler full of 200 oysters? With a shared appreciation for the shellfish fuelling the band (drummer David Cyrus MacDonald and frontman Colin Buchanan's resumes boast oyster farming right underneath touring musician) they planned their Rolling Oyster Review. While surprisingly this isn't the first time these boys have been shucking oysters out of the back of their van, it is the first time they've brought them along on such a long haul. "We were vigilant with the ice changing and master shucker David took it upon himself to ensure the integrity of the oyster by trying the first one each night," says Buchanan adding that on this tour they not only played shows in each town, but hosted oyster parties, too. And Paper Lions aren't just offering up shellfish on Saturday, with hopes of hitting the studio in the new year they'll be playing a handful of new songs, too.
