Get it on with the Halifax Slam Team

Oral Tradition: A night of dirty poetry invites you to dust off your erotica, and take the mic for a good cause.

Hermitofthewoods likes dirty words.

Tonight, the Halifax Slam Team is getting all sexy-like, at Gus' of all places. And by joining them in getting hot-and-bothered via naughty poetry, you won't just get your jollies---you'll help them get to Saskatoon. That's where the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word is going down, and also where our Slam Team (Mike McGuire AKA Hermitofthewoods, Laura Burke, Desiree Adams, Mary Grace Koile and Jordan Thomas) hopes to kick ass and take names by bringing home the national title for the first time since 2008. So, a filthy fundraiser! Oral Tradition is an erotic open mic, where you're invited to shred your own dirty rhymes, take in some burlesque, swoon over tunes from Mary Grace Koile and be entertained by headliner St. Ephanie and your hosts, the fellas from the Background Noise. "Because its a weeknight, the show will end around 12," says McGuire. "Odd for a Halifax gig, but if we go too late people will be tired when they get home, and who wants that after a night of dirty poetry?" The man has a point.

Thursday August 30, Gus' Pub & Grill, 2605 Agricola Street, 9pm, $5
