Francophone calling

The brand new Francofestival puts the spotlight on a range Francophone music.

Francophone calling
Elage Diouf plays Friday night.

Yes, another jam-packed festival this weekend. The Halifax waterfront is the place to be in coming days it seems and that's partially thanks to Francofestival, a celebration of the diversity of the French-speaking cultures around the world that'll showcase a wide range of art, theatre, literature, dance and of course, music. Organized by the The Conseil Communautaire du Grand-Havre, the festival is the first of it's kind in Nova Scotia and will feature a colourful spectrum of musical treats like African/Caribbean-inspired band Edo King et Afro Nova Musica, Winnipeg's Les Surveillantes, Senegal-born, Juno winner Élage Diouf, roots-rockers BBQ Kings, Quebec folk sextet Quimorucru and Acadian celtic folk-rockers Grand Dérangement. No matter what your first language is, this inaugural event is not to be missed.

Fri Sep 22-Sun Sep 25, Halifax Waterfront, see listings or ccgh.ca
