Was just down at the Park Lane for another of those essential daytime screenings, this time it was to be Justin Simms's Down to the Dirt, from the Joel Thomas Hynes book, with Hynes performing in the film as well. Since the print of Blindness was delayed yesterday and I didn't see that---happy to have nabbed a ticket for one of tonight's gala screenings---this would be a good first film, good homegrown product, to start off the AFF right.
But no.
The flustered and apologetic volunteer told me the screening room had been double-booked or a jury screening was going long or some such issue... and she couldn't tell me when it was supposed to start. Sigh. I wandered down to the Delta to pick up my press stuff and returned to the Park Lane, where nothing had changed.
Blindness and Argyle Street party, here I come.
