Red Bull Academy alumni, DJ and producer takes on Tribeca.

ANGO aka Andrew Gordon McPherson.

It was about a year ago that DJ and producer ANGO (Andrew Gordon McPherson) was in London, taking part in what would be a career launching experience at Red Bull's Music Academy. The former Haligonian was one of only four Canadians chosen for the two-week workshop which he credits for broadening his music tastes. "It opened my eyes to a lot of music I wasn't necessarily interested in...and helped me to contextualize sounds." Impressing the right people at the academy ended up landing him a gig at the Sonar Festival in Barcelona, which in turn piqued the interest of Scottish label LuckyMe, which he'll release an album on this summer. After playing what ANGO calls a "homecoming show" for himself and fellow former Haligonian Prison Garde at Tribeca, the 17-date, country-spanning series will wrap in his current home, Montreal.
