Pump up the Jam | Opinion | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Dear editor,

I'd like to thank whoever writes the table of contents for the sensational statements about Pearl Jam last week. If you're going to sling such tripe, shouldn't you back it up? There wasn't a single syllable to buttress those ridiculous assertions. Thanks for the journalistic hit-and-run. Pearl Jam is neither desperate nor "in a slump." Excuse me for not taking this as gospel.

As for Sleater-Kinney "saving the world," the offending party should get his head read. I saw them and walked out because it was so painful. They're not going to save rock and roll. They're not even going to save women's rock and roll. If they're as vital as Farrow states, then why aren't they selling out 10,000 seat stadiums in the furthest reaches of North America, without the slightest degree of support from radio or the print media? I wonder if it dawned on anyone at The Coast that SK might not even be in Halifax were it not for Pearl Jam. I'm glad those has-beens were useful for something.
