Dartmouth will be well equipped health-wise as Pillars of Health (10 Portland Place) opens November 1.

Owner Jennifer Petley believes firmly in the basics of health, meaning healthy in mind, body and spirit. The multi-disciplinary wellness clinic is merely an umbrella term, as the Pillars of Health offers naturopathic medicine, clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, homeopathy, hydrotherapy and lifestyle counselling.

”We each have different areas of interest. We are all very education based, as we want to educate our patients,” says Petley, who is a registered massage therapist, doula, aromatherapist and personal trainer. “We’re experts in our field; we’re integrated rather than an alternative to health care. I’m not the anti-conventional medicine practionier; there are some things that the complimentary medicines do better.”

There is a yin and yang to everything, especially in regards to health care. Petley wants to be an advocate for finding a balance in all areas of life. She plans to offer monthly seminars with various themes, including: womenÕs and children’s health free of charge. For info visit pillarsofhealth.ca.
