Catching Amy | Opinion | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

To the editor,

I just finished reading "Chasing Amy" and it's one of the most powerful pieces of journalism I've read any time, anywhere. Such a heartbreaking story, and told with such compassion and honesty—many thanks to writer Lezlie Lowe.

I didn't know Amy Lee Collins, but Lowe has brought her to life here, given her a voice and given your readers a gut-wrenching insight into the problems of addictions and homelessness. This is the kind of writing that makes a difference in the world, and no doubt this piece already has, by making others look with greater compassion at youth who try to beat the odds against them.
