Gaping hole at Bayers and Connolly.

This picture was sent in by a reader with the subject line, “Gaping hole at Bayers and Connolly.” That pretty much sums it up.

Remarks: Generally, holes stink. This one really stinks because it bores into the Halifax drainage system. Holes leading into the sewer aren’t cool unless they involve Ninja Turtles or Super Mario, and we see neither. And who jammed that stick in there? Given that our mystery hole is right beside a crosswalk and a sidewalk, we start by ringing Right of Way Services. The always-helpful Brian Robarts wasn’t aware of the problem, but promises to “rattle a few cages” on our behalf.

Who's Responsible?: Brian Robarts, with HRM Right of Way Services. 490-6845.
