Bike and Bean | Shoptalk | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Are you passionate about coffee, cycling and intriguing-sounding muffins? Wait until mid-March---then, get your legs pumping and head to Tantallon, to new cafe/bike shop The Bike and Bean (5401 St. Margaret’s Bay Road). The shop, housed in a historic former train station, is owned by Marilou Levangie and Dana Gallant, who also own Pedal and Sea Adventures a bike tour and rental company based in Hubbards. The Bike and Bean will do bike repairs, rent out bikes, trailers and tandem bicycles (!!) for use on nearby bike paths and sell bikes and bike paraphernalia, including clothing from Canadian company Sugoi, pumps, and bike parts. The cafe offers gourmet coffee and organic teas, as well as sweets, homemade soups and authentic Italian paninis. They’ll also have a revolving line-up of savoury muffins in flavours like prosciutto and basil, and peppered zucchini and leek. B&B will be the only bike shop between Halifax and Lunenburg, says Levangie. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m just looking forward to pretending I’m in Shining Time Station.
