Revolution

Junior high biology lessons are passed off for life-changing revelations in the ecological mess Revolution. This follow-up to his 2006 film Sharkwater, finds Canadian conservationist Rob Stewart refuting his entire previous movie, as it'll be impossible to save the sharks if the entire ocean dies off from climate change. Stewart travels to several locales (admitting the whole time such travel is increasing his own carbon waste) and interviews experts about environmental dangers while showing off some breathtaking underwater biodiversity. Shame then that Stewart's narration is so rudimentary, wrapping itself in simple narratives about nature's beauty and industry's shocking greed. He's not wrong, but that sort of ecology 101 filmmaking isn't going to change many minds. A decently informative tool for elementary classes, but Revolution is of little substantial value to anyone actually in this fight for earth's survival. —Jacob Boon
