Working for the Weekend Dads

They're releasing their debut EP on Friday, but the Dads have got more than that up their sleeves.

If we're the Weekend Dads' figurative kids...we're about to get showered in gifts. For starters, this Friday marks the release show for their much-awaited debut album, a seven-inch released by It's Alive Records. Even better? A leftover track from the self-titled record fell into the right pair of hands (Larry Livermore's) and will be featured on an upcoming compilation The Thing That Ate Larry Livermore, tentatively due out in February. "We're all big fans of Lookout Records and Green Day as well, so we're pretty flattered," says Weekend Dad James Robertson. "When I found out I laughed so hard I almost cried." On top of all that, expect an upcoming split seven-inch where the Dads will be in the good company of the Fat Stupids, The Hemingways and Scotland's Murderburgers. Thanks, Dads!

Friday Dec 2, Michael's Bar & Grill, 6100 Young Street, 10pm, $6
