Tanya Davis keeps going

She's got many tricks up her sleeve, a new CD is just one of them.

Tanya Davis is a mighty busy lady. The poet, songstress, YouTube superstar and recent Music Nova Scotia Award winner just released her third album Clocks and Hearts Keep Going, and it seems that she does too. Recorded last May in Ottawa and produced by Jim Bryson, Davis says the album brings bigger arrangements and instrumentation to the table, resulting in a more upbeat vibe than her past recordings, "It's funny, the songs are lighter when you listen to them, but lyrically it seems heavier." But the heavier topics like the death of love and embracing loss have a sweet delivery, framed by Davis' charming melodies and vocals. Lucky for us, her plate is still heaping. In upcoming months she'll be touring her new material, penning a one-person show, dabbling in literary projects and dreaming up future collaborations with filmmaker Andrea Dorfman

Friday November 19, St. Matthias Church, 6131 Chebucto Road, 8pm, $15/$20
