Our City is a Dance Floor

The People's Dance Party gets excited in Lucas Damberg's video ode to springtime in Halifax (with a litte help from Le Tigre).

A couple of weeks ago I bumped into Lucas Dambergs, and he was telling me about this dance video he shot in various locations around the city. It's up on YouTube, and it's so much fun. But not only is it set to a song by one of the best bands ever, Le Tigre, there's a smart message behind all the smooth moves: "Spring is here and we love it! Our city is awake, and it's time to celebrate. But celebrate what? As our city crumbles they tear it down and build it anew. Our favourite spots cease to exist. What can we do to honour the places we love and resist their transformation into bland offices and condominiums? Rip it up with wicked mad dance styles! After all, this city is our dance floor."

Reminds me of an updated version of this classic 1980s call to peace/tolerance/equality, but with some better pants:
