Eyelevel Gallery's annual fundraiser—and chance to get glamourous—is coming up this Saturday night. In its fifth year, Silver and Gold is a semi-formal art function: part exhibition, silent auction and raffle, part cash-bar dance party.

The fundraiser takes place at sponsor location Maitland Terrace, to familiarize supporters "with the space of our February exhibit," director Katie Belcher says. Provincial and federal funds help Eyelevel, our city's oldest artist-run centre, on an operational plane whereas fundraising goes towards equipment, rentals and project programming. The gallery is entering its second year without a permanent home-base, and since last April they've been utilizing spaces ranging from parking lots to Park Lane for their "broad and wandering" exhibitions. "We don't sell tickets to our events, we're a non-for-profit organization," explains Belcher. "Fundraising is how we can support our projects."

Silver and Gold promises a balance between intimate gallery and rambunctious north end party. The silent auction, with work by John Murchie and Svava Thordis Juliusson among others, kicks off at 8pm. Meanwhile a raffle, featuring prizes including an invite to an upcoming Eyelevel artist dinner party takes place. CKDU host, karaoke queen and Coast contributor Veronica Simmonds will be emceeing the first portion, complete with homemade finger-foods. At 10:30, DJ Juicy Lippard takes over, with the promise that she can "play your jams before you even know you want them."
