Coldplay | Music | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Coldplay is a band that manages to draw the ire of its critics no matter what direction it heads in. Chris Martin and company have always been saddled by the idea that Coldplay is merely following in the footsteps of U2, and while Mylo Xyloto won’t do much to dissuade that notion, it is a wholly enjoyable experience. It’s a summery blast of warm sunshine opting to leave the soapbox for Bono to stand on. The enthusiasm shown on tracks such as “Paradise” and “Charlie Brown” is truly infectious, showing that while they may be ambitious, they’re also earnest.
