City Natives bring their A-game

Since 2012, City Natives spread the message of hard work and focus through badass hip-hop

Four men and some badass beats make up City Natives, but Illfundz (Brandon Arnold), Bne (Blake Francis), Beaatz (Shelby Sappier) and Gearl Francis bring you one solid message. "The biggest message we present through our music is that if you work every day and focus hard enough you can achieve success, doesn't matter if you're black, white or native," says Illfundz.

From New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, City Natives have tried to inspire since 2012. "Coming from a reserve, we tend to be surrounded by people who live off of social assistance," he explains. "We try to make them realize that all you have to do is get out there."

With local performances behind them, including appearances at the Hopscotch Halifax Celebration, this the first time City Natives will play the Pop Explosion: "We plan on bringing our A-game. This is our opportunity to prove we have our performance game on lock."
