Captain, O Captain.

This generation may be the worst of them yet, but our childhoods all had something genuinely beautiful in common. Since the start you had our attention, you had our laughs and now our cries. Up there on the big screen was the dad that every single kid wished was theirs, the inspired teacher they wished taught them, even the strict nanny they wished kept them in line. You kept us smiling and laughing and our entire generation couldn't be more thankful. With your craft and your talent you inspired us. You taught us so many things; "Seize the day, because each and every one of us in this room is one day going to stop breathing, turn cold and die", "Poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for", "The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel alone", "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world". You taught us that those who seem the happiest can be suffering the most. This generation will never let your lessons be forgotten. Rest in sweet peace, you brought an entire generation of children laughter, I hope you can now find your own. Thank you for everything, we love you. We ain't never had a friend like you, and we never will again. —We were ALL his damn kids, too!
