Pair up with a little kiddo as children's reading support and relive all of your favourite childhood books, from Robert Munsch to the adventures of earnest Franklin once a week. French tutors are also welcome. Fill out the application on the Library's website and drop it off in person to Lana Pinsky at the branch. (You can also volunteer at almost every branch as an adult literacy volunteer or an English language learning volunteer.)

Volunteers help the station run smoothly by maintaining the extensive music library, making playlists, training to host their own show or doing casual fill-in spots, helping table events and more. It's a really friendly, open environment well-suited for music fans and can

Work with elementary school youth once a week after school, from 3:30-5pm. Volunteers meet at Joseph Howe Elementary school and walk to YouthNet, then games and activities and silliness abound.

If you've left your beloved Max back home, and a regular volunteer schedule doesn't fit with your studies, you can pop into an SPCA any time it's open to take a dog for a walk—seriously. Cat cuddles are also an option, plus shelter greeters, helping the animal care team, photographing puppers—and writing engaging adoptable bios—or work in partnership with the Girl Guides of Canada for the Paw Prints on your Heart challenge.
