Double Power, Double Trouble

Yoga Week Day 2: Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio

On Friday, I attended the Double Power class led by Leslie and Tomomi at Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio, located across from the Superstore on Quinpool. It kicked my butt. The tone was set as Tomomi walked in joking about multitasking while drinking coffee and water, total Double Power. The next hour would be focused on balance, with the two instructors playing out friend and foe roles, pushing us while helping us achieve better form. Tomomi lead us through a rapid fire succession of poses, leaving me looking around at the more experienced yogis and attempting to translate names like "Happy Baby" into something remotely possible for my body to mimic. Leslie noticed my frantic head spinning and brought me a hair elastic for which I am eternally grateful. She was a savior gently guiding students into better form — shoulders back, shoulders back, shoulders back — which was a huge help to a lost noob like me.

The atmosphere was light throughout thanks to jokes about Facebook memes, yoga farts, and the obnoxious ringtone during the final cool down. It was also much more of a workout than yesterday's class leaving me exhausted and trembling. That means it was working, right?

Leslie and Tomomi. How sweet are they? Very sweet.
