With a little help from their friends

Jason & Kyle | Married September 22, 2012

When Jason Currie and Kyle Levesque met online in 2006, Kyle was the first guy Jason had ever spoken with online. When they finally met in person, it sealed the deal and five years later St. Pete Beach, Florida was the perfect place for a surprise proposal. In the heat of the moment, Jason’s excitement must have gotten him a little flustered because he didn’t notice until later that he had spelled out M-E-R-R-Y M-E on the bed by mistake. “Neither of us noticed until one of our friends pointed it out on our Facebook photo,” says Jason. “I was embarrassed, but it made for a cute story.” Easy and relaxed about his mistake, they brought that organic casualness to the rest of the wedding. “We wanted to make sure our guests were comfortable and that they would dance all night,” he says. “We envisioned our wedding day to be relaxed, easy and beautiful.” With a colour scheme of teal, navy, grey, chartreuse and white, a bit of DIY hard work (not a baker, Jason still made the cake himself, and Kyle handled the invitations and place settings), and friends that were happy to pitch in their services, everything turned out just right. “The only advice we could give to anyone getting married would be to not stress and to enjoy every minute of your wedding. We did, and there isn’t a thing we would do differently.”
