Signs are very much part of the downtown scene. And no, we’re not talking about “Sidewalk closed: use other side.” Take a walk down Barrington and Argyle and you’ll see a bunch of cool storefronts enticing you to go inside. There’s Highwayman’s rustic wooden sign and there’s Biscuit’s light-up, retro welcome, for instance. But Freak Lunchbox takes the cake for the sign Halifax loves the most. The colourful hand-painted beacons of Freak’s flagship store lets us know it is all going to be OK, and even if it isn’t, at least there is candy.
