Hope Blooms’ mission is to support and make a positive impact in the community of north end Halifax around food security; community confidence and inclusion; and education. Since its beginning in 2008, the organization has grown (from its garden on Brunswick Street) and distributed (for free!) over 50,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables for those experiencing food insecurity, among dozens of other community impact projects in Halifax. “What we do is bigger than us,” says Kolade Boboye, one of the Hope Blooms founding youth members and manager of social businesses. “The work we do can’t be done without the community and our awesome team.” With plans to scale and refresh their brand in the new year, the whole Hope Blooms team is excited to see their new ideas grow, or bloom.
