Where is the sunlight in these gloomy days of spring? Lucas Dambergs manages to capture the rays of light in Solargraphs, a unique and mesmerizing exhibit. Dambergs documents one year of sunrises and sunsets through long exposure photographs. Using handmade pinhole cameras, a line appeared on the photo paper in the camera for each sunrise and sunset in the day. The photos each have a unique band of white light based on the camera's location on the shores of Halifax and Tacoma, Washington. "Mom's Land" from Halifax has white light illuminating the dark paper. Each line is distinct in texture and brightness. The light in Washington has bluish and green hues, particularly in "Salmon Beach, North." Damberg's work has a sense of wonder and hope. In "Fuller Terrace, backyard," the yellow bands create a rainbow over the Halifax sky---even after a dark spring, the sun will rise again.
