The shiny new Nintendo console is out, and there’s no better way to show it off than the NintendoLand compilation. A collection of 12 mini-games illustrates how the WiiU’s controller, the touch-screen, motion enabled quasi-tablet works. And it works pretty well. The game is at it’s best when you’re playing with a group (who use Wii remotes) but there’s enough variety in the collection that you can still enjoy the experience solo. It’s not quite as easy to pick up and play as Wii Sports was, but there’s no denying the fun of drawing a bow in The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest or running after the famous mustachioed plumber in Mario Chase. One complaint about the game is the virtual tour guide/assistant Monita has a gnawing computerized voice that irritates. However, the excellent variety of gameplay keeps NintendoLand fresh, especially with a group.
