Jinny Yu and Don Andrus’ Cadenza is a visual face off.

This art is epic. Jinny Yu and Don Andrus' Cadenza is a large-scale collaboration and exploration of artistic history. Cadenza, which is a musical term for improvisation, combines the artwork of Yu and Andrus perfectly. Both artists used Italian artist Givanni Battista Tiepolo's mural "The Brazen Serpent" as inspiration. Using the dimensions 164x1,356 centimetres, each artist gave the historical piece a modern twist. Jinny Yu's large-scale mural faces Don Andrus' oil portraits. It's a visual face-off that brings out depth and emotion. Yu's mural is a mix of images that shine from the oil on aluminum canvas. The use of black, white and gray gives the piece a haunting appeal with shadows and ghostly faces in the background. The individual portraits are equally intriguing. The close-ups of individual subjects invoke intimacy, particularly the details of the facial expressions. Don't worry, they're not watching you.
