Sam the Record Man

“It’s just nice to be able to put good music in people’s hands,” says Sean Passmore, manager of Sam the Record Man and self-described music-geek of the first order. Passmore attributes his store’s success to the store’s great selection and enthusiastic, knowledgeable sales staff. “Because we aren’t part of a chain, we can make our own decisions about what music to stock,” says Passmore. “That means we can bring in music that reflects what our customers want, and what’s going on in the community.” Music by people like Garrett Mason and JP Cormier, for example, as well as other artists who are local favourites. 1656 Barrington, 423-6441

1st runner-up CD Plus, 1592 Barrington, 422-1559

2nd runner-up HMV, 5523 Spring Garden, 425-1084
