The Ambiguous Case is a spirited, mostly acoustic band that may remind you of sunny 1970s folk-rock hits like "Sweet City Woman." Banjo and trumpet get along beautifully on "Outta Your Mind" and a violin solo creates its own space on "Honey For Bees." Well-read and disarming, Downey can get away with a line like "Isadora Duncan, don't you wish you were a pumpkin?" "Heart vs. Doubt" is autobiographical, philosophical and a breezy two-stepper all in one. There's wisdom behind that folksy exterior.
