Juno-winning Garrett Mason has got blues in his bones. Son of the late Dutch Mason, Garrett can be found ripping up fretboards on local stages either solo or with musical collaborator Keith Hallett. In fact, just last summer at Halifax Jazz Fest, Hallett and Mason opened for the legendary Junior Watson. Amateur guitar players in attendance were alternately shamed, inspired and then prompted to record a quick “note to self: practice scales” by the sheer talent. It’s our hope that winning gold in this poll will inspire a few bluesy riffs on our behalf.
