Halifax nails

Local love on your fingertips

Paint up before your summer vacation, happily explaining to any curious parties what exactly a donair is. Before you know it, instant best friend! Or enemy, if you happen to be talking to someone who hates rad things.

Halifax Town Clock nail tutorial
Step 1: Paint a base coat of sky blue (or grey, depending on the weather).

Step 2: Using white polish, paint a thick stripe in the middle of your nail, slightly rounding the top.

Step 3: Dab on a semi-circle of turquoise polish to make that nice patinated top part. Add a drop of gold polish at the very top with a toothpick.

Step 4: With a dotting tool or a toothpick, add a dark blue circle of polish for the clock face. Pick your favourite time of day and draw some clock hands with a white striper (french manicure stripers work well).

Step 5: Add your topcoat and your nails are poppin’ off like that damned cannon.

Donair nail tutorial
Step 1: Start with a base of brown polish, as close in colour to the delicately spiced meat cylinder as you can possibly get.

Step 2: Using beige polish, add your pita by painting in a “V” shape overtop the brown base coat.

Step 3: With a dotting tool or a toothpick, add some tomato-shaped dots with red polish.

Step 4: Using a white striper or a toothpick dipped in white polish, add your donair sauce judiciously.

Step 5: A fine silver glitter polish makes a nice rendering of tinfoil, because you’re taking this shit to go.

Step 6: Add a topcoat and try to avoid licking your fingers.
