Former Best New Restaurant Opa! is now your favourite Greek restaurant, edging out aging Athens. Opa!, which has no direct English translation but is an exclamation Greeks use when having a good time, certainly lives up to its name. The food is authentic, full of herbs and Mediterranean tastes, and the large olive tree in the middle of the dining room sets the mood to transport diners to a sunnier place. Not bad for two former SMU sports guys. Costa Elles and Chris Tzaneteas opened Opa! in June of 2000 and by all accounts are still going strong, having found their niche in a very competitive market.
