To the person who made the “Vote for Jesus this Christmas” signs. Here’s a thought…why don’t you take the money you spent on making those stupid signs (I’m pretty sure if Jesus rises again, he won’t be running for office in Halifax) and the time it took to post them (I think you need to have more sex) and help someone who needs help….you know, like Jesus taught, preached and did himself. My Christmas gift to you is this advice: spend more time this holiday season getting to know this Jesus you are “campaigning” for and less time acting like a douche-bag. —Tired of the Hypercrites

And while we’re at it, let’s put the “Ham” back in Mohammedan.

The person did use his/her money to help someone in need. Just because you’re a pompous ass and look down on their effort of time and money to help anyone in need is nothing more than thinking you are better than them. Judging their manner of love toward their fellow man is none of your concern. It is their money to do so with as they please. At least they aren’t feeding vlt’s and the government’s pockets. What do you blow your money on Pomp?
And I’m quite sure they do know Jesus waaaaay better than you. That’s why they are doing it Pomp.
Here, here. I rolled my eyes when I saw them this morning. I agree- put the money where it will directly benefit someone; there are a lot of cold and hungry people out there. They can’t eat/wear a stupid sign.
Wait Wheels… how does posting signs with “Vote for Jesus this Christmas” help someone?
Does the sign turn into a turkey? Can they barter the sign for heating oil? Can they wrap it up and put it under a tree for their kid’s Christmas present?
The answer is no. And given that, posting signs with “Vote for Jesus this Christmas” DOESN’T help anyone; but it gives us fodder for ridicule!
That’s a big part of what’s wrong with the world. Too many people telling everyone else what to do instead of leading by example.
This isn’t a bid for a hooray – I do volunteer work for the CNIB and I took my blind friend to the Salvation Army run Christmas hamper giveaway at the top end of Fairview. If you want to see what the true face of charity is look no further than this place, it’s run by the SA and volunteers from the Halifax West Food Bank. They will cheerfully distribute turkeys, gift cards and toys, to the ones with families, for over 700 people between 1 and 7 pm, the recipients line up in the cold and damp to wait their turn. This is just one of the many spots throughout this city, this rich city, this racist city as an earlier poster put, that distributes food and help to the desperately needy, the recipients are from every corner of the world. These volunteers are doing the REAL heavy lifting, and are TRUE Christians, perhaps they are also responsible for the signs?
My question to the poster – what Christian/Good act are you doing at Christmas?
And BTW it’s HYPOCRITES
Well it’s official, school’s out for Christmas vacation. The chances are if this person took the time to make and display signs, he or she is also volunteering in some way unlike your douchey ass.
No it won’t turn into a turkey Pomp, but it may just get some poor lost soul out there to think about his or her spiritual condition. But I don’t expect you to know anything about that stuff.
I don’t see how any ‘soul’ who hasn’t ‘found’ a Christian religious, is considered lost.
To be truly lost a soul has to tie itself to an organized religious group !
For when you decide to follow one groups narrow view points , consciously decide you are right … Which means all others are mistaken. Only then are you truly lost.
In closing , if you can support Sally Ann , they do great charity work …. & not just at xmas time
As I’ve said before here, Me Old Dad has been manning a Christmas kettle for the S.A. (perhaps I should use the full name, lest anybody think I’m referring to the Sturm Abteilung.
He tells me that one of the best parts of it is talking to people, which is bit out of character since Dad is pretty much as misanthropic as me, and is more of a talker than a listener at the best of times. Still, many people who donate have stories to tell and this year he encountered an elderly gent who was a merchant mariner in WWII. His torpedoed ship was being eased into Halifax Harbour when one of the tugs lurched and this fellow went over the side into the icy winter water. He was swiftly pulled out and when the ship docked he was hustled into the hands of some Salvation Army volunteer ladies who bundled him into a hot shower and had a set of PJ’s and a warm quilted bed for him when he came out.
Since then, he told Dad, he won’t pass a Sally Ann kettle without putting something in, all these years later.
diane’s dad was raf and sally ann was the ONLY charity he gave money to. boots on the ground, everywhere, always.
