DEAR RESTAURANTS:
Please stop using chicken stock and/or beef stock in otherwise vegetarian soups! Veggie broth would taste just as good in that curried carrot or potato leek, k? —Hard out here for a herbivore

NO SOUP FOR YOU. BANNED . 1 YEAR!
Yes because it will kill you if you eat it. You don’t like it make your own.
I know someone who has high blood pressure, a sensitive stomach, and is gluten and dairy free. So maybe all restaurants should also leave out the stock all together because it is high in sodium, and no salt, no spices, no dairy and no crackers or bread with the soup.
That just leaves vegetables boiled in plain water….. MMMM! Yummmmeeee!
Let’s just gear the world for a few people, shall we? I would suggest if you are allergic or a vegan to make your own meals at home. Then the rest of us wouldn’t haven’t to listen to you whine.
The beef/chicken stock isn’t made from real beef/chickens anyway, its just yellow or brown colored chemicals laced with msg, so don’t worry about it. Or, well, now you do have a real reason to bitch. You’re welcome.
Dining at a vegan restaurant is the best way to get what you want. The omnivore majority is under no obligation to comprehend vegetarian and vegan cuisine, although it is nice when they get it right.
It is safe to assume that an omnivore chef would present a vegetable soup like curried carrot or potato leek made in the traditional way with an animal based broth. Since both examples usually contain and/or are served with butter, cream, or yoghurt the presence of meat broth appears to be a non-issue.
Well lather me in taters and steak! God Damn! I’ll die happy. (topped off with onions and mushrooms)
OP, you just identified a lucrative restaurant opportunity. Get busy.
All you have to do is say what your allergies are when ordering so you can figure out what’s safe and not safe to eat. How hard is it to do that? It may take a little longer to order but no reason to whine over it. Also someone else already suggested a great idea!
I think the OB’s problem was that if a restaurant clearly listed something as vegetarian…… but it wasn’t vegetarian. This has nothing to do with being whiny or having the world geared towards you as the restaurant already offers the dish.
How many of you would make these same comments if OB ordered a cheese burger and it was a formed tofu patty? What!?! Clearly you didn’t ask if it actually had meat in it, totally your fault then, lol.
What about if you asked for a Coke and they brought a Pepsi?
Its common sense to ask questions no matter where you eat out if you have allergies.
^^Being a vegetarian is a life choice, not an allergy.
