What is up with clothing stores that have mirrors outside, rather than inside, their changing rooms? I’m certainly not a fan of this selling tactic. —Self-Conscious Shopper

  1. Such mirrors discourage shoplifting.

I recently heard a rumour that Walmart no longer has dressing rooms. Anyone know if this is true? Does this mean I have to try on bras in the produce section? Using cantaloupes?

  2. Right!? If I walk into a fitting room and there are no mirrors inside it, I walk right back out. If you want my money, you’ll give me some privacy.

  3. I would posit that these are commission sale outlets where Customer interaction is key to making a sale.
Back in the day, as soon as a consumer would prairie-dog out of the change cube, I’d be right there offering my unlimited wisdom of fashion knowledge…..and rake in the $. if my little cash-cow didn’t come out with their want on, it was a lot harder to sell them on the value of their try-on.

it’s always aaaaallll about the Benjamin’s. If you ever wonder why a business does a certain thing a certain way…. you can guarantee it’s all about makin the buck.

  4. I think I prefer getting to try it on outside of the cubicle than having the employee ask me how my sizing is with my pants around my ankles

  5. I like inside and outside mirrors. Inside to check out the initial fit. Then, outside in better light and from a distance to see how it really looks. FYI, I’ll be buying a new jock strap at lunch time today. Just wanted to warn you to stay away from all sport stores at that time. 🙂

  6. A lot of people don’t want to bother getting changed so those mirrors just give you the freedom to check out the outfit by holding it up to yourself. If they bother you, don’t use them?

  7. I order shit online or shop at Frenchy’s like a normal person. Enjoy your “customer service” at the mall, losers!
