So I’m walking down the sidewalk with my 15 year old daughter, who uses a wheelchair most times because of a disability she was born with…but, she can walk limited distances and enjoys doing so when she can. You and your friends are walking up the same sidewalk and when you approach us, you decide to say some not very nice things about my daughter’s appearance to your friends, loud enough for her to hear. You break out in laughter, she breaks out in tears.

Congratulations, dicksnot….you succeeded in making her cry….I would have shown you my gratitude then but 6 of you and 1 of me does not add up to fair. My mother raised fat kids, not stupid one’s. So, if by chance you happen to read this and you want to meet….alone…..I can arrange a demonstration for you, so you can appreciate what it’s like to try and walk with a disability. —Grow a pair…

  1. I wouldn’t say just because OB said nothing that it’s fake.. Depending on the size of the 6 people, and whether OB was male or female can play a huge factor in wanting to protect ones self from harm.

  2. Sometimes a person can be caught off-guard by such insensitivity and struggle with what to say. Some people have no problem speaking their minds while others would rather curl up and die. Add being outnumbered and feeling vulnerable and it is easy to see why silence and tears ensued.

  3. Keep motivating your daughter to not give up and don’t let people like that make her feel bad. She is stronger than they are because of the struggle she lives with everyday. My child has problems with learning and gets judged for it by other kids. I tell her everyday she is a smart kid and what they say doesn’t change who she is. She catches on quicker than most think. She just learns differently. Just like your daughter will be much better at adapting to physical challenges.

  4. the sad part is that your daughter was treated poorly. even sadder…is the internet tough guy you are. If you were a man, and had something to say, you say it. or shut up. to come on here and say anything about a threat, is, well…chickenshit.

  5. Cujal2 and Ghost Jesus; When was the last time you stood up to six people? Perhaps the poster was afraid that one of the six had a gun or a knife. Maybe she was a single mom who couldn’t defend herself if she tried or maybe he was smart enough not to open his mouth and get him and his daughter beat. It’s a strange world out there….and I don’t know about you but I would rather be a live coward than a dead hero.

  6. First of all, nobody has the right to harass strangers on the street – whether those strangers be male or female, old or young, disabled or not.

That said, I keep getting stuck on the OB’s statement, “My mother raised fat kids”. It causes me a lot of distress when I see kids that are quite overweight. I’ve seen quite a few in recent years who can’t run and play like other kids. It’s also very likely that they are being set up for serious health problems later in life.

I’m not sure what the ultimate answer is but I would hope that people who were brought up with bad eating habits would make an effort to learn good eating habits and pass them on to their kids … so their kids won’t end up saying, “My mother raised fat kids”.
