I keep hearing that inflation is low in this country and the States and yet people are struggling to feed themselves because of ever increasing food prices.
I know that so called “core” inflation is what’s counted and hence inflation is considered low. Core inflation basically is the rate of inflation for big ticket items. So let’s talk about meat and potato inflation- flow up again 25%/coffee the cheap stuff up by about $1.50- roughly a 50% increase. Tell me are we being sold a bill of BS?—Food ain’t cheap

Groceries are still cheap compared to other countries. People can easily feed their families healthy meals if they try.
I haven’t really noticed food being more expensive…then again I don’t have kids or ever plan to.
I rarely pay attention to the price of food, really. It’s just not that big of a deal for me, I guess. *shrug*
i am always on the lookout for inexpensive peanuts in the shell. four bucks a kilo aint too shabby
The last I heard, food prices were down this year in Canada due to decreased shipping costs and increased competition. But keep shaking your fist at the sky, feels good.

Well I’m twenty, started buying my own food when I got first got at job at sixteen – bread was never under a dollar for me. I’m never strapped for cash as I only support myself and my cat. What’s so difficult to understand that I wouldn’t notice a small increase over several years when I’m not having to buy a ton of food all the time? Noticing something going from one dollar to two dollars over an entire lifetime is nothing anyone should be concerned about….unless you’re poor and have children to feed.

Because of certain global droughts and market speculation, the price of wheat in Africa (just one example) has sky-rocketed. The cost of bread has increased by several hundred %.
We don’t feel a few pennys here and there, but most definately, global food prices are increasing at a disturbing rate.
