I’d like to say this to halifax. Our beloved Halifax Crafters is doing this comunity a disservice to craft makers in the hrm. from jury memebers being vendors, to being called a society without a public way to gain membership, chosing clique freinds/employers over skilled craftspeople. This fair is the best attended and a local fav. but when you over look actual local producers in favour of folks from other provinces, its not fair, when you go now all you see is ceramics and a slew of things that were there for the last few years. i feel you are in denial of the fact that you are a family fair, not offering anything for children, or anyone who likes to smile. pretty much becoming a craft fair of just kitchen stuff. keep it going! you are gonna bore yourself out of existance. i hope you can start actually being supportive of our bright craft comunity here and not just being your own haligonian version of mean girls —someone had to say it

  1. Craft Shows are one of the biggest rip-off venues on the Peninsula. After buying a few gifts for friends through local crafters at such shows, I learned two things: make sure the jewelry you purchase doesn’t fall apart in your hands two days later and that crafters’ prices are ridiculously high.

  2. So we can now publically slag groups? Really?! Can’t justify why we think bitches are fake but slag groups? WTF?!

  3. Whaaaaaaat???? A group of art fucks being a pretentious, elitist bunch of knobs? You don’t say…

  4. Aside from a certain parsimony with money, weakness for strong drink and predilection for committing unnatural acts with non-consenting sheep, THERE’S NOWT WRONG WI’ CROFTERS!
Och, ma nairves, is there nae a group yon Sassenach Harper willnae try tae scapegoot?

  5. I had no idea there was even a crafter’s community, I usually look at a table with a bunch of dream catchers and a couple of cow themed salt and pepper shakers and turn the other way anyhow.

  6. ^^^”unnatural acts with non-consenting sheep,”

Reminds me of the Strolling Bones song, “Hey MacLeod, Get Off of My Ewe”

  7. Dear “someone had to say it”

As someone who has joyfully attended Halifax Crafters over the years, I would like to chime in and say that I think they do an excellent job. To still be in business, successfully, after 10 years of steady growth, suggests to me that they are doing something right. I rarely respond to these kinds of negative comments in the first place, but felt compelled to do so in this case. In a city where there is so little support for artists, small business, crafting ladies and gents, I would like to also direct your attention to the fact that all of the members and participants of Halifax Crafters are extremely hard-working and creative individuals who are doing their best to create a livelihood for themselves and to also inspire others to do the same. It sounds to me like the author of someone had to say it is offering up a plate of sour-grapes. May I suggest to you that if you don’t like what you see, when so many others do, go somewhere else and start your own club.
