To my favorite poutine shop: I know I haven’t been in lately, but WTF is up with the way smaller portions of poutine? You guys were well known for a huge helping of poutine even in the smaller size box! Now the box is half the size (even though the price never changed…). I’m saddened by this 🙁 —can’t see you staying in business long.

Hey Basil~ We got rid of broadcast telly and are now Netflix and Hulu watchers. Works for us and recommend. LOVE having a whole load of seasons of something to watch and with some skullduggery you can watch US and UK Netflix to extend your access to different shows.

I haven’t had cable for a number of years. Netflix came pre-installed on my computer to tv link (the none apple tv kind), tried it for free for a month and signed up. I think its awesome, but like I said, I don’t have cable.
Netflix is worth it… But make sure you get a proxy to get the US version.

and it wouldn’t be suitable for someone who wants recent blockbusters only. the best thing is the all-in-one price. 7.99 unlimited use. its not such a good deal in ontario i hear where your internet provider charges for the streaming, but here if you have an unlimited internet plan all you pay is 7.99. watch 100 movies a month, 7.99.
if you want to watch over your computer monitor, all you do is sign up with netflix online and give them your credit card and watch that way. if you want to watch comfy in your leather recliner in the den, you need a ‘smart’ tv or some wifi device that lets you access the internet from your tv. i got a smartie with blu ray player. but i still watch from my computer sometimes if her highness is watching hockey in the living room
netflix displays in categories dark drama, comedies, bbc shows, romance, war documentaries, horror, suspense. TED talks, nature, kids. a movie can be in several categories and will display in all of them. you scroll through them, hover (if using a keyboard with your tv) or just click-scroll on the remote and get a brief synopsis, actors list, director, even reviews by viewers. best of all, of course, is being able to start watching the film and dump it with no charges whatsoever if you don’t like it. they are no per-movie charges. flat fee.
new items are added all the time. you can search on title name, actor or director.
this week i watched Masterpiece Wallander series, they have the BBC House of Cards series, Fringe, Walking Dead, Justified, Jordan, Lost, Breaking Bad etc etc. you can find movies by director after watching one you like (byzantium and then ondine by neil jordan) and then ‘follow’ one of the actors into a movie like Triage. ( the irish and scottish film industry movies have been fantastic! )
it keeps track of what movies you have watched. you can put movies on your list to watch someday because just like standing in a video store jaw agape trying to decide, it gets the same way as you scroll. and you can rate movies you have seen, then the program offers you a suggestion list.
i love it. i love movies and i don’t watch tv shows (until they get to netflix and i can watch them continuously, like a movie) and so many independant films. little treasures to find. netflix is where i watched ‘open water’. & ‘scenic route’
