This is a bitch for SOME of the ‘homeless’ people in this city. First off, I use the term homeless very lightly, as I have seen many of you with blackberries and taking the bus to the home you own (you know who you). I work a job I fucking hate. A job that makes my depression worse and makes it feel like life is not worth living. Most of you are young and able bodied and COULD get a job if you actually wanted one. I understand though, you would just rather do nothing and try to beg for money. That is the reason we all are disgusted by you. You give the 1% of people begging (the actual homeless people) a bad name. Now here is a tip. Shaking your cup with change in it actually earns you less money. That sound is annoying. It might just take a change jingle on the wrong day to put me over the edge. —Get a Life

Here’s the thing about the bums: if I, a young professional with 5+ years experience in my field and two degrees, dressed in expensive business-casual attire with great references, if I can’t find a job in this economic wasteland / poor-excuse-for-a-city, how is someone with, let’s say, a highschool diploma, poor hygiene, and no references, supposed to just “go get a job.” THERE ARE NO JOBS TO GO GET. If there were, I would have one already. And if this horrible trend keeps up, I just might be squeegee-ing myself. I feel for these bums. Choice or not, it’s rough out there for anyone who is unemployed right now. Just ask anyone who is unemployed right now. And count yourself lucky, OP.

There are a lot of shitty jobs here. Halifax is practically the call center capital of Canada and they’ll take anyone… poor hygiene, no references and all. I’m surprised the call centers don’t have recruiters on the streets.

You have no control over how others get their cash. You CAN change your own circumstances. Life is too short to waste doing something you “fucking hate” to the point of depression. So you know what you need to do…just do it!

I know typically working at places like McDonald’s or Tim’s is “supposed” to be degrading but they’re actually not that bad. They both offer health benefits FFS! And I’m not sure but I think they give out scholarships too.

zzz, the monkeemobile, was a 1965 pontiac bonniville convertible. just tricked out a bit by mr. george barris, the customizing king of cars in the day. any show that had cool rods, like the munsters, or monkees, or even partridge family, all were done by him.

I’ve worked all kinds of jobs through the years, minimum wage as well. I take whatever I can get. I do have a college education and am chronically underemployed. If you can walk and talk and are willing to work, even in Halifax, there is work. Employment agencies aren’t the best but using one got me my first job in Halifax ten years ago. So yeah if the street people wanted to work, they could work.
As for jobs we hate, we do them to pay the bills, not everyone is Oprah!!!!!
