  1. So volunteer at something else. I crochet shawls for the sick and elderly and find it most fulfilling – you may have to try on a few volunteer hats before finding the one that fits best.

  2. Just because you are a “Waste of time” there doesn’t mean everyone else is.

Oh, and a little more detail would be nice.

  3. My mom does something similar, TTFN: she knits mittens and hats all year round to give to shelters (including the CUTEST baby mittens, booties and hats).

She loves knitting (can’t sit and watch TV without doing something) and didn’t know what to do with the stuff she knits until she got the idea of donating them (after the piled up and she had no room for more :P). I’d do something similar if I could knit too 🙁

So…maybe be a go-getter, OP and FIND something to do at your placement?

  4. sounds like your “volunteering” “placement” is part of community service. If not go somewhere else, if it is to bad STFU and do your time. you could be over worked and ran ragged.

  5. The graphic design students at NSCC have not-for-profit work as a component of their curriculum around this time of year.

  6. I read on the newspaper that the RCMP caught a guy who was masterbating infront of people’s houses few days ago, maybe u can volunteer to help him out. lol

this is actual news I’m not Bullshiting…

  7. I’m willing to bet it’s K–im-vik. Non-profits get to register with this youth volunteer service organization and may or may not have actual work for their placement to do, given the time of year. (ie: a health org may have envelopes to stuff at fundraising time, but not much else later on) At it’s best, it’s a great idea…non-profits get free labor and youngsters get to develop skills… but it doesnt always work out for the best.

  8. I know when I was in the PR program at NSCC we had work placement, and it was unpaid. Depending where you ended up, some people had a lot better experience. A lot of the non-profits need help, they just don’t know how they need help – if you can come up with some projects or things that are work for you on your term but are simple for them to continue in the future without you, you can really make a difference.

I’ve been in boring jobs before, and I’ve done everything from rejecting sponsorships and donations to licking envelopes and everything in between. I’m sure you can find something to do.
