It didn’t take long for the ‘truth’ to come out, did it? Dexter hadn’t even cashed his first big fat pension checks before we are told that instead of having a slim surplus, we are up shit creek to the tune of almost Half a Billion Dollars! So, it looks as if we will be in for more cuts, and increases in service fees, can’t call them a tax increase can we?

Health care and Education will be spared, apparently, other than that we are in for more cuts.

This is proof positive that Politicians are only interested in qualifying for their Taxpayer Funded Platinum Pension, I hope those bastards have a lousy Christmas and they get a big lump of coal up their stern tube. —Basil Fawlty

  1. What needs to happen is the public service needs trimming down.

    Specifically in the higher-up end.

Way too many directors, executive directors, senior executive directors, too many communications personnel making 60+k when CNS could get by with half as many.

Why take things out on the tax payer? The public service is way too bloated with senior and executive management that sit around with their thumbs up their butts trying to look busy so their jobs are secure.

Meanwhile, it’s the plebes making a third of what these managers are clearing that are suffering because their resources are strained.

I mean, someone please tell me why it’s necessary to have four directors for the same division or branch? And for that matter, take a look at what some deputy ministers’ assistants are making…. I know of one that made almost 75k last year! (it’s all in the supplement to the public accounts).

  2. You’re surprised? It always happens when a party sweeps into power, dingus. That’s politics – to blame the other party. At least we’ll be getting a holiday in February.

Kitty, let me assure you that the Liberals will be doing lots of trimming in the public service – there will be roll backs or/and unpaid leave, been there, saw that and have the billboard dismantled in my basement. I totally agree that the cuts should be made from the top – most of these people need to be reviewed and pitched out on their useless keisters. That would include Communications Nova Scotia, half their staff of ‘Acting Directors’ should be tossed out on their ear. And my ex-boss who was a total nut job, only fit to manage a fucking flea circus, not real live human beans.

  3. TTF – if you had the attention span slightly larger than a gnat, you might recall I had already forecast this issue – I’m better than Peter Coade at forecasting.

  4. Well, Basil, I had a front row seat to N.S. politics for about 30 years. 30 years too long. I’ve bleated the same line many times on many occasions. And I’ll have you know that my attention span is as long as any other plankton.
