Unfortunately – and not surprisingly – The Big Lift focuses on cars in our car-centric society. When I checked the Big Lift app just before the removal of the pedestrian and bicycle pathways, there was no mention of this imminent, 18 month effect on active transportation unless you dug deep to find a date with no time.
I doubt dogs will be permitted on the shuttle/ferry either – are they to swim across? —18 months…really?!

i’m confused what is this bitch actually about? The fact that they can’t walk their dog across the bridge while it is being completely redone?
Deer make the swim, tell Sparky to grow pair.
Under which rock have you been living OB?
What a shithole that this goes ahead with nary a protest. Unbelievably inconvenient and totally inconsiderate to anyone not driving.
A date with no time? I believe they’re trying for the afternoon tea break.
Well I suppose they can do nothing to the bridge to appease you and hope your in the middle span when it collapses. What a SET. This was no surprise. We have known about it for at least two years. The info about the closure has been out for months. So too fucking bad about you.
I would like to say that, for myself, I am very impressed with the shuttle service Halifax Harbour Bridges has offered. They built large sheltered waiting areas and purchased 3 brand new shuttle busses complete with bike trailers that run continuously, free of charge.
As a cyclist, I am used to getting the scraps in this city, but this shuttle service is not like that at all. It feels great that a real effort was made to make the service pleasant and convenient.
ahem…

If you didn’t know, you only have yourself to blame.
