That BMW that crashed into two vehicles and ruined the front of that small business owners shop on Quinpool Road has yet to be charged or even publicly identified. The police know who owns it but have yet to make an arrest for this very potentially dangerous hit and run, even after two weeks.
So, either of two scenarios are at play here. The first is that this vehicle belongs to one of Halifax’s elite. You know the type. Either “connected” or wealthy because we all know that in this town if you have status or money your ability to grease your way out of notoriety is greatly enhanced and pardoned by the powers that be as “boys will be boys” and quietly suppressed by the media so that no damage may be done to their reputation.
The second is that the investigation by our beloved Halifax Police Department is being conducted with the same enthusiasm and diligence (insert sarcasm here) that they have become known for. If it seems that it may be too difficult, time consuming or even bothersome to charge someone with this crime they may just drop it. Come on HPD! Do something! You have the car, know who the owner is and have video of the persons fleeing the scene!!!
If that BMW was a Toyota Echo rest assured the perpetrators would have long since been charged and facing the consequences of their dangerous and entitled actions.
Apply the law equally to everyone or no one.

Yeah… you can’t charge someone with a crime unless you can prove they are responsible. Sometimes murderers are “free” for long periods of time while police gather sufficient evidence to prove the charge in court. Being the owner of the car doesn’t mean they were the driver just as the owner of a home in which a murder is committed will be held accountable for that crime. Stop your nonsense.

Right because the owner of a vehicle is automatically guilty if their vehicle is at the scene. As for video? Most surveillance cameras are of pretty poor quality. So exactly who are they “protecting” since you seem to have a lot of info?
… well they didn’t exactly say it was reported stolen.

By the way, a very large percentage of BMWs are bought on credit. You know, easy monthly payments just like a person could do with any other vehicle.
That means that many very ordinary people drive them. Driving a BMW does not necessarily indicate that some one is super rich–often it’s just the opposite.
When I read “BMW” – I automatically thought drug dealer, and “narc”. Maybe that’s why it’s disappeared from the police news?
